Malang, 17 September 2024 – The Department of Arabic Language at Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) and Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) Malaysia are intensifying their collaboration through a series of joint initiatives, with a strong focus on joint research, alongside student and faculty exchanges, and keynote speaker participation.
A key element of this partnership is joint research, where academics from both UM and UPSI collaborate on various research projects related to Arabic linguistics, literature, and applied studies. These joint research efforts aim to produce high-quality academic publications and innovative findings that address current global challenges in Arabic language education and linguistics. This research collaboration will be spearheaded by top academics such as Prof. Dr. Hanik Mahliatussikah, M.Hum, Dr. Ibnu Samsul Huda, S.S., M.A., and Dr. Moch. Wahib Dariyadi, M.Pd., in coordination with leading scholars from UPSI.
In addition to research, student exchange programs are designed to give students hands-on experience studying Arabic at partner universities, allowing them to broaden their perspectives academically and culturally. The faculty exchangeprogram will enable professors from UM and UPSI to deliver lectures at their respective institutions, fostering deeper academic ties and knowledge sharing. Prof. Dr. Hanik Mahliatussikah is scheduled to teach Arabic literature at UPSI, while Dr. Ibnu Samsul Huda will focus on applied Arabic linguistics in his guest lectures at UPSI.
Furthermore, keynote speaker exchanges will take place at international seminars and conferences, where leading scholars from both universities will present their research. Dr. Moch. Wahib Dariyadi from UM is set to be a keynote speaker at UPSI’s international seminar, while experts from UPSI will provide keynote addresses at UM’s academic events.
This collaboration is designed not only to enrich academic and cultural experiences but also to enhance research output, aiming for impactful contributions to Arabic language studies at the global level
